From "Permission to Land" to "Pinewood Smile"
Vocalist and lead guitarist Justin Hawkins and his brother Dan, rhythm guitarist, first began performing in a synth-pop outfit called Empire before joining forces with drummer Ed Graham and bassist Frankie Poullain to form The Darkness in 2000. After creating a significant buzz on the London live music scene, the group signed to Atlantic Records and instantly caught national attention with a flamboyant mix of glam, hard rock, and heavy metal. Released in 2003, their debut album "Permission to Land" became a monster hit in the group’s UK homeland, reaching number two on the charts, shifting more than a million copies, and winning Best Album at the BRIT Awards. Produced by Queen collaborator Roy Thomas Baker, sophomore album "One Way Ticket to Hell… and Back" arrived in 2005, but the band decided to go separate ways a year later. After pursuing various solo projects, all four members reunited in 2011 for a series of warm-up shows before heading back into the studio for 2012’s "Hot Cakes." After Rufus Tiger Taylor replaced Graham in 2014, they added to their discography with 2015’s "Last of Our Kind," 2017’s "Pinewood Smile," and 2019’s "Easter Is Cancelled." Flamboyant cat suits, epic guitar solos, exuberant falsettos
The Darkness pride themselves on delivering a full-throttle rock-and-roll experience that entertains from start to finish. In keeping with their theatrical rock sound, the band’s live shows typically contain an imaginative display of pyrotechnics, dazzling lights, and confetti cannons, evoking the unashamedly OTT antics of iconic ’70s bands like Queen, KISS, and AC/DC. Charismatic front man Justin Hawkins also adds to the bombast with his fondness for flamboyant cat suits, epic air guitar–friendly solos, and exuberant falsetto notes. From "Growing On Me" and "Love Is Only a Feeling" to "One Way Ticket" and their smash hit single "I Believe In a Thing Called Love," the band’s early hits are guaranteed to inspire a mass sing-along. But more recent singles such as "All the Pretty Girls" and "Rock and Roll Deserves to Die" prove that the quartet still know how to make a strong homage to ’70s rock that gets everyone making the hand horn sign. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see one of Rock’n’Roll’s most high-spirited bands. Browse The Darkness tickets currently available at StubHub.
