History of Laneway Festival
St Jerome's Laneway Festival was first established in Melbourne, Australia, back in 2004. Founders Jerome Borazio and Danny Rogers saw that Melbourne's Summer agenda was missing casual alt-music events, and decided to give the project a go, which initially consisted in weekly meet-ups in a small bar with live music events. With the overwhelming success of The Avalanches, Melbourne's resident band, word about the home-made festival spread like fire.
Over a decade later, the festival has gained so much popularity that it has spread to multiple other cities in Australia - specifically Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle - and has even expanded to New Zealand, Singapore, and The US' Detroit. Indeed, the festival has gained so much momentum that its recent lineups have included many famous artists from around the world, such as Lorde, Florence and the Machine, The xx, Foals, Tame Impala, and Alt-J, to name a few. Festival-goers can enjoy musical performances from a host of top talent, which is why you should buy your St. Jerome's Laneway Festival tickets asap, and start getting ready for one of the most sought-for events of the year.
Creating space for alternative music
Unlike the Download Festival, Zoukout, or even Ultra Music Festival Singapore or any other legs around the globe, the alternative St Jerome's doesn't aim to reach multitudinous masses. One of St. Jerome's Laneway Festival's best qualities is the fact that, despite its international success, the festival still maintains an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. In fact, the festival has built a solid reputation on the back of featuring great emerging talents. Did you know that Gotye, Bonobo and Feist have all played in St. Jerome's Laneway Festival before becoming famous? There aren't many festivals out there which can boast of being ahead of the music industry, and even less which are homegrown! So check this year's line ups at StubHub and purchase your St. Jerome's Laneway Festival tickets and form part of this festival revolution.
