Legend or based-on actual events?
If you read the book you may have noticed that the author has answered this question in the preface. He states that there is no historical basis to the story but rather it's a legend. The director of the film, K Asif, converted the legend into something that seemed like it could be so real that it appears to be based on a specific era of Indian history. Despite the insistence, the people still find many pieces of historical evidence in the story. The rich culture, the colourful clothing, the taboo rules for Indian weddings… it’s all there in this incredibly detailed book turned film turned musical. If you’re a history lover and/or theatre fan then this musical is a must-see, find Mughal E Azam Singapore tickets online at StubHub today.
