Kansas City Royals History
The Royals were founded in 1969 as part of the Major League Expansion that also included the San Diego Padres, and the Seattle Pilots (now the Milwaukee Brewers). The team has played in four world series, taking home two titles in 1985 and 2015 and has also won seven division titles and four AL pennants. The name Royals, as surprising as it seems, does not come from Kings and Queens, it, in fact, comes from the American Royal - a livestock show and rodeo that has been held annually in Kansas City since 1899.
Kauffman Stadium - Home of the Royals
The Kansas City Royals play their home games at the iconic Kauffman Stadium. Opened in 1973, the stadium was built exclusively for baseball during a period when many felt that 'unique' stadiums were not commercially viable. With a seating capacity of nearly 40,000, it is seen as one of the best examples of modernist stadium design and was built before the Camden Yards era of ballpark design. With expansive views of the countryside, get your Kansas City Royals tickets and soak up the atmosphere in one of baseball's finest venues.
