Julian Marley—son of reggae legend Bob
The son of the reggae genre’s most enduring icon Bob Marley, Julian Marley is also a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter in his own right. Buy or sell Julian Marley tickets at StubHub.
A successful career
Born in London in 1975, Julian Marley followed in his famous father’s footsteps from a young age, founding production company Ghetto Youth International in his mid-teens, with brothers Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley. In 1996, he recorded his debut LP, "Lion in the Morning", at the famous Tuff Gong Studios in the Jamaican town of Kingston, and two years later worked with Lauryn Hill on her seminal solo debut, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill". After once again teaming up with his brothers on Bob Marley and The Wailers covers album "Chant Down Babylon", Marley dropped his 2003 sophomore "A Time and Place" and was given the honour of performing at the 2008 Games in Beijing with his band The Uprising. Marley headed back into the studio in 2009 for third LP "Awake" and then again in 2019 for the long-awaited "As I Am", both of which picked up Grammy nominations in the Best Reggae Album category. Classic covers and breezy originals
Julian Marley has taken his roots reggae sound across the world, performing at various festivals, including Morocco’s Mawazine, Switzerland’s Fêtes de Genève, America’s Hangout Music Fest, Australia’s Ragamuffin All Stars and Mexico’s Tropico just to name a few. He’s also regularly taken to the stage alongside his two brothers, including a sold-out, two-night stand at London’s O2 Indigo, designed to celebrate 50 years of Jamaican independence. With his signature five-foot-long dreadlocks, Marley sure looks like the son of reggae legend Bob; and typically accompanied by backing band The Uprising, his live shows prove that he’s inherited his father’s musical talents, too. Marley is also proud of his heritage, regularly covering classics such as "Three Little Birds", "So Much Things to Say", "Waiting in Vain", "Get Up, Stand Up" and "Natural Mystic" in his own style. But original, breezy compositions such as "Cooling in Jamaica", "Straighter Roads", "Lemme Go" and "Boom Draw" are just as likely to get the crowds swaying along.
