DMA'S background
Formed in 2012, the DMA'S members are Johnny Took, Tommy O'Dell and Matt Mason. The band came together when members of local rock band Underlights (Took & O'Dell) began writing songs with Matt Mason. All three members of the band are songwriters and they soon developed a sound that harkened back to the days of Brit Pop and Manchunian rock. Channeling the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream, the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays. Gaining almost instant popularity after the release of their home-recorded demos, DMA'S signed to the independent record label I Oh You and, soon after, released their debut single "Delete". Notably, the band have received praise from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. The often outspoken singer recently gave them a pat on the back and said "I don't know much about Australian music, I know there's that band DMAs, I went to see them a couple of weeks ago, and I like what I see... Man, they got some good tunes in there". As Oasis were one DMA'S key influences when they started, this is high praise indeed.
