All about Cheer Chen (陈绮贞)
Although Cheer Chen had always dreamed of being a singer and a composer, she never gave up her studies and, in fact, finished her degree in Philosophy before starting her professional music career. Cheer Chen (陈绮贞) was soon discovered as she performed pub shows around her home city. Her debut album Think Twice (1998) was a great success, with songs like "September" and "Longly Longly Night" becoming popular in her native Taiwan. Several successful albums have followed, with each becoming more and more popular. In fact, her fourth release Peripeteia (2006), which includes hit "The Edge", won the Best Music Video Award at the 17th Golden Melody Awards!
Not only does the lauded artist sing and write her own songs- which are mainly in Chinese but also include other languages such as English-, but she has also learnt to play the piano and the guitar. Specifically, Cheer Chen plays a Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar, the same model used by Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and U2's The Edge, to name a few.
