A band from the grunge era
The ’90s will always be remembered as the decade that saw the rise of the internet, the death of the cassette, the birth of the CD, and the emergence of a genre that defined an entire generation—grunge. The era has no shortage of bands experimenting with grunge music, and among the most notable of those is Buckcherry. Buckcherry was formed in 1995 in Anaheim, California, by original members Josh Todd on vocals, Keith Nelson on guitars, Jonathan Brightman on bass, and Devon Glenn on drums. They started touring the local music scene under the name Sparrow and were able to build a strong following among local fans. They eventually had to drop the name Sparrow since it was already a registered trademark of EMI Records as one of their labels. From then on, the band started going by the name Buckcherry. The band began to achieve commercial success after the release of their self-titled debut album in 1999. The album included chart-topping songs like "Lit it Up" and "Check Your Head." The album also received highly positive acclaim from both fans and critics and was certified gold in sales.
A highly acclaimed band
Buckcherry continued to tour at bigger events. The same year of the release of their debut album, they opened for Lenny Kravitz and played in Woodstock ’99, and in 2000 played alongside AC/DC. After several disputes among band members, Buckcherry took a hiatus in 2002. Three years later, Josh Todd and Keith Nelson reformed the band with a lineup of new members. They then released their album "15," which, like much of their previous work, gained commercial success. In 2008, Buckcherry released another album, "Black Butterfly." The album was also a huge success, as it peaked at number 9 on the Top 200. If you’d like to catch Buckcherry live in concert, keep yourself updated here on StubHub for upcoming tour dates.
