All about At The Gates
Having played a significant role in the comparatively new death metal scene, At The Gates was formed in 1990 around the same time as similar band In Flames, with the first line up including vocalist Tomas Lindberg, guitarists Anders Bjorler and Alf Svensson, drummer Adrian Erlandsson and bassist Jonas Bjorler. The Swedish band, based in Gothenburg, released their first two full-length albums The Red in the Sky Is Ours (1992) and With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness (1993), and shortly went on their very first tour through Europe, with the likes of Cradle of Filth and Anathema.
At The Gates had already gathered fans from all over the globe with their first two albums and tour, but their third release Terminal Spirit Disease (1994) saw them reach the spotlight. While the Swedes received very positive feedback from critics and fans alike, 1996 saw the band break up, with the Bjorler brothers and drummer Erlandsson moving on to become members of The Haunted. It wasn't until a decade later that the band announced reunion shows, mainly for rock festivals throughout Europe. The reunion saw a more mature band, with the band members visibly enjoying the music played together. After several years playing sporadically, At The Gates decided to release their comeback album At War with Reality (2014). With the brand new release, At The Gates won multiple awards, such as the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Inspiration Award. Shortly after Anders Bjorler decided to retire, and Jonas Stalhammar was announced as the band's new guitarist. Want to see the band as they play colossal solos and riffs?
